Collecting Things is an on-going series of prints that captures the surfaces, textures, and shapes of various buildings and spaces across my college campus. From favorite classrooms, to club meeting rooms, all of these spaces hold an emotional meaning for me.
Using the process of “frottage,” or rubbings, I used lithograph crayon and paper to capture a variety of uneven and textured surfaces from these spaces. From brick walls, to engraved plaques, and disparate objects, I engaged in a process of “collecting” textures, spaces, and things.
On one side of each print, which also double as folded zines, I printed a poem. This poem outlines my fascination for documenting and remembering the spaces and places I love.
