During the summer of 2019, I put together this zine called “Keep Rolling On.” The project was created in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the 1969 Cuyahoga River Fire in Cleveland, Ohio. This fire was the 13th and final river fire that struck Cleveland over an almost century-long period. While devastating, the 1969 fire helped prompt the modern-day environmental movement.
To create “Keep Rolling On,” I took photos of myself wearing second-hand clothing. All of the images were taken near the Cuyahoga River and its tributary bodies of water. I then made collages that emphasized the connection between second-hand clothing and the appreciation of our natural environments, in particular, our access to clean, safe water.
In 2020, images from this zine were published in Issue 3 of The Dollhouse, a magazine based-in Columbus, Ohio.
